Catherine Middleton weds in Queen's platinum tiara

Catherine Middleton married Prince William wearing the Queen's platinum tiara.

The Duchess of Cambridge wore the diamond and platinum tiara created by Cartier for the wedding, which took place on April 29th in Westminster Abbey.

She wore the tiara as her "something borrowed", a tradition of royal weddings that now takes place.

The platinum tiara was made originally in 1936 for the Queen Mother and was given to Queen Elizabeth on her 18th birthday.

She also donned a pair of earrings that had diamond oak leaves and pear-shaped diamond acorns.

Finishing her bridal look, Catherine wore an ivory and lace gown by Alexander McQueen designer Sarah Burton.

Speaking about the dress and the bride, Burton said in a statement: "It has been the experience of a lifetime to work with Catherine Middleton to create her wedding dress, and I have enjoyed every moment of it.

"It was such an incredible honour to be asked, and I am so proud of what we and the Alexander McQueen team have created."
