Platinum jewellery designers were honoured at the first ever Sustainable Design Awards on Tuesday (March 29th).
Johnson Matthey NY (JMNY) announced the three winners at the ceremony, reports jckonline.com.
The three winners were Jason Dow from Jason Dow Jewelry, Stephanie Satow of SCS Jewelry and Erik Stewart, from Erik Stewart Jewelry.
Mark Danks, sales and marketing manager of JMNY, told the news provider that sustainability is not just about the environment and that his firm had been promoting this message for some time.
He is quoted as saying: "Other elements are just as important, such as working with a community.
"We really want to tip the balance back toward platinum from cheaper alternatives, so by starting with the newest people in the industry, we hope to play our part in sustaining the design and manufacture of platinum jewellery in North America."
JMNY has been the primary source of platinum sheet, wire, tube and casting pieces for US jewelers since 1935.
