Beyonce sparkles at black ball event by wearing platinum earrings

US singer Beyonce dazzled at a ball in New York last week by wearing platinum jewellery to go with her dress.

The 29-year-old, who has had success as a solo artist as well as with girl band Destiny's Child, joined a number of other celebrities at Keep A Child Alive's seventh annual black ball in New York City last Thursday (September 30th).

To accompany a long, strapless gown, the star wore a pair of blackened platinum earrings with diamonds and amethyst designed by Lorraine Schwartz.

Redcarpet-fashionawards.com said that it was the best they had seen Beyonce look in a "long time", adding: "Her fuchsia satin gown drapes deliciously around her curvy hips before tying into a bow at the back."

Earlier this week, Beyonce was named as the ninth most-powerful woman in the world by publishing company Forbes.

Michelle Obama, Angela Merkel and Lady Gaga were among those ahead of the singer.
