Maria Sharapova finds the right match with platinum jewellery

Despite being knocked out of the US Open tennis tournament yesterday, Maria Sharapova looked the part by wearing platinum jewellery on court.

The world number 16 has signed a deal with Tiffany & Co to wear earrings from its new collection of yellow diamonds at all four of the tennis Grand Slam events.

Miss Sharapova selected yellow and white diamonds set in platinum and gold and said she is impressed at how good they look.

Pegah Goldooz, General Manager of Tiffany & Co in the United Arab Emirates, told Business Intelligence Middle East that "it is no wonder that this iconic player has selected this rare piece for such an important event".

Miss Sharapova won the US Open in 2006 but lost to top seed Caroline Wozniacki in straight sets last night.
