Edwardian platinum and diamond wristwatch to be auctioned in Maine this month

An annual two-day US auction will take place this month with a platinum watch standing out on the list of jewelry lots set to be auctioned off.

The Maine summer auction takes place at the end of this month and will feature a number of items including furniture, antiques and books.

Part of the collection, to be auctioned by Gamage Antiques, will include Herman Miller chairs and an oak roll-top desk left by the late Bernard Langlais of Cushing.

However, a stand-out piece is the Edwardian period handmade platinum and diamond wristwatch with 181 diamonds trimming its platinum band. This will go on sale on the first day of the auction, scheduled for August 30th.

Platinum jewelry from the Edwardian period is proving to be popular with fashion connoisseurs. Last year, John Krasinski proposed to British actress Emily Blunt with a 3-carat Edwardian diamond and platinum ring. The couple got married in Italy in July.
