The German company has created a new model, the Richard Lange Referenzuhr, which uses the precious metal to make it stand out from the crowd.
Featuring a large balance wheel as well as winding trains and lever mechanisms that are visible through the sapphire crystal rear, the watches have a 40.5 millimeter case, giving it real presence.
Meanwhile, the watch is finished off with a platinum buckle and a black, hand-stitched crocodile strap.
Only 50 of these watches have been made, ensuring their collectable qualities and exclusivity and setting them above pink gold versions of the same model, of which 75 have been made.
As recent auctions have shown, platinum watches often gain value over time, while the precious metal remains a popular choice for horologists when it comes to creating limited edition timepieces.
