UNION DIAMOND AWARDS A PLATINUM AND DIAMOND ENGAGEMENT RING TO A MEMBER OF THE U.S .MILITARY

Union Diamond (www.UnionDiamond.com) announced today they will be awarding a platinum and diamond engagement ring worth $40,000 to one lucky member of the United States Armed Forces. The contest, titled “My Perfect Union”, allows members of the military to nominate themselves or be nominated by friends or family members through a video submission and/or essay submitted to the website, www.MyPerfectUnion.com.

All branches of the U.S. Military are eligible and encouraged to enter as are both active duty and retired members of the Armed Forces.

“When I immigrated to the United States of America more than 20 years ago, I had no idea what challenges and opportunities were in store for me. This great country has given me so much and I can't think of a better way to give back than to make this announcement,” said Scott Anderson, President and CEO of Union Diamond.

The website will start accepting submissions today, and the final recipient of the prize will be announced on December 6, 2011. The winner will receive a designer engagement setting in precious platinum, with an extraordinary D Color, Internally Flawless diamond. Platinum is a great choice for engagement rings and wedding bands because it won’t change color or fade. It symbolizes a relationship that will endure.
The serviceman or servicewoman will be awarded the ring in-person by Scott Anderson himself.

“For me, it is the perfect way to show my appreciation to the men and women who protect us. I want to hand this platinum ring to them, look them in the eyes and tell them ‘thank you’ for all that they’ve done” said Anderson, who ironically launched the website UnionDiamond.com on September 11, 2001.

“Having worked nearly nine years alongside Scott, I understand how important this is and how much it means to be able to do something for the people who deserve it most” said Barbara Palumbo, Senior Vice President of Union Diamond.

“In particular, Scott wants to give away a truly extraordinary diamond, set in rare platinum because those who protect our country do extraordinary things every day of their lives.”

Engrave platinum wedding bands 'as message will never fade'

Platinum is a good choice of precious metal for wedding bands because an engraving will never fade.

That is according to OneWed, which revealed some of the top trends when it comes to wedding bands.

It explained that many couples are choosing to inscribe a sentimental message or date on the inside rim of their wedding bands.

"If you're thinking about engraving, be sure to choose your metal wisely," OneWed revealed.

"Platinum will be your best bet as it's the most durable of all the precious metals. Your engraved message will never wear away, and your meaningful words will live on for generations."

Consumers opting for pieces of 'statement' platinum jewellery?

An increasing number of consumers may be choosing pieces of statement platinum jewellery that reflect their personality.

According to Rosanagh Wilson, stylist and image consultant at Onvu, people are opting to wear fewer pieces of jewellery, but ones that reflect their style.

She claims consumers are being more careful when picking jewellery and are using these accessories to reflect their personalities instead of their clothes.

"People are enjoying jewellery and choosing it quite carefully because it's a reflection of their taste," she said.

"Some people will go for something that's really big and showy because they're really flamboyant, while other people will use slightly more classic pieces."

Platinum jewellery may be a good option for a number of people because of its durability.

This is because Ms Wilson also noted consumers are thinking about how long a piece will last when choosing jewellery.

She said: "They're thinking of the longevity when they buy a piece of jewellery to update their look."
